THE SCIO MEMORIAL LIBRARY RECEIVES CHECK

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERAThe Allegany County Area Foundation recently presented a $547.16 check to the Scio Memorial Library. This check comes from the current earnings of an ACAF endowment established by the Shear Family and the Hydramec Corporation of Scio back in 1989. On hand for the check presentation were: Carolyn Miller, President of the Allegany County Area Foundation; Nancy Norton, library board member; and Sue Moyer, director of the Scio Memorial Library. Mrs. Moyer stated, “This money will be used to develop the side lot next to our library.”

The library is open on Tuesday (3PM – 7PM), Wednesday (5PM – 9PM), Thursday (11AM – 3PM), Friday (1PM – 5PM), and Saturday (10AM – 2PM). For more information please visit their web site at: http://sciolibrary.org/.

The Allegany County Area Foundation holds assets of over 8 million dollars. The endowed funds continue to grow in perpetuity to enrich and improve the lives of Allegany County people. This past June the Foundation awarded over $239,000 in scholarships alone.
