The Friendship Free Library Receives Grant

Friendship Free Library 2015Friendship, NY – The Allegany County Area Foundation is pleased to announce a $274.33 grant awarded to the Friendship Free Library from the Susan Foster Myers Memorial Endowment Fund managed by the Foundation. This grant money will be used to help support the educational programs offered by the library.

Susan Foster Myers had served the people of Allegany County in many different positions over the years. Some of these positions included; Cub Scout Pack Master, town councilman, county legislator, and County Youth Board member to name just a few. Since 1991 she had also served on the Friendship Free Library Board of directors, and she was the Board president for about ten years. The purpose of the endowment fund is to support the Friendship Free Library as it continues to thrive and serve the community into the future. The annual investment earnings from this endowed fund will be used to help improve the programs of the library. The funds may be used to purchase such things as: educational programs for the patrons of the library to enjoy new books, digital media and new types of technologies that may not be available through other sources of funding. This is a great tribute to someone who gave so much to her community and to the people of Allegany County.
