First Book of WNY to Benefit from ACAF Grant

First Book Check Presentation 11-2014 The Allegany County Area Foundation recently awarded a $608.74 grant provided by the Thomas F. & Laura L. Moogan Family Fund to Team First Book of Western New York.  This grant will benefit students at the Genesee Valley Central School and the Bolivar-Richburg Central School. These two districts were eligible to apply for this program.

Elizabeth Mattson, Chair and First Book Ambassador, said, “This money will make it possible for us to purchase 240 new books to children in need in Allegany County.”

First Book of Western New York services children in low-income households in all eight counties in the Western New York Region. This organization works with local schools and programs around the country to provide them with new, quality books for children they serve. First Book is transforming the lives of children in need and elevating the quality of education by making new, high-quality books available on an ongoing basis.
