Amanda Burns, Director ePlace at Alfred Box of Books accepts Grant

The ePLACE at the Alfred Box of Books Library helps the members of our community achieve their digital literacy goals! We have taught people how to use computers to find jobs, communicate with their friends and family, go shopping, improve their knowledge of productivity software (like Excel), and enable local businesses to have a solid Internet presence. Our one-on-one instruction is also heavily used for professional training. The Allegany County Area Foundation grant will enable us to offer expanded technology services beyond the December deadline stipulated by the original American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Broadband Technologies Opportunities Program (BTOP) grant, so we will be here to support community members as they learn and manage the new eReaders and tablets they get over the holidays!
