Allegany County Area Foundation Announces Three Grant Awards

The Board of Trustees of the ACAF voted to award grants to the following agencies. Allegany ARC, ACCORD Entrepreneurial Assistance Training and Genesee River Wilds. In keeping with the mission of the Foundation the awards were given for sustainable projects that meet a community need and further the well-being of people in Allegany County. The Allegany Fund of the Foundation supports discretionary projects as determined by the Board of Trustees. Presentations of the formal “big check” will be in November.

Allegany ARC was awarded $1000.00 to purchase a projector, specifically for the Snoezelen Therapy room. Clients who are in needed of rehabilitative treatment in a specific environment will benefit from this project. The ACCORD Corporation received two $150.00 scholarships which are given to students who attend the Entrepreneurial training. Students in this course are expected to write a business plan in preparation for beginning their own start-up operation. Genesee River Wilds organization was allocated $500.00 to continue their project which is developing access points along the Genesee River for recreational purposes.
