Words of Appreciation – Grant Recipients

“Just a short note on behalf of the Genesee Valley Central School District to thank you for your generous donation to First Book.  Because of donors such as yourself, we were able to purchase 205 books to distribute to PK – 4.

We will be distributing our books by grade level on March 2nd.  This is our first day of our “Read Across America” week; we are excited to begin our celebration with free books!”
Sincerely,
Carol McCarville
Genesee Valley Central School

“Thank you so much for coming to our Baker’s Bridge Meeting House and presenting the check for $500 that the Allegany County Area Foundation granted to us to help us have a new deck and ramp built in memory of our retired Charter Member, Lyle Palmiter.  This grant will help very much toward our goal of having a deck area with both stairs and a handicap accessible ramp. Please convey our appreciation to your Foundation Board.”
Sincerely,
Mary Lou Cartledge, Treasurer
Baker’s Bridge Historical Association

I am writing to thank you for the $1,000 grant that we were awarded to enhance our children’s library.  With this grant we were able to purchase 10 back jack floor seats, 10 floor cushions, 2 large bean-bag lounge chairs, and 2 book display racks.  We have already started using the back jack floor seating for our weekly story hour, and the children LOVE them!  Thank you for awarding us this grant!”

“I would like to take the time to say that my dreams of being the first in my immediate family to go straight from high school to an undergraduate college at Edinboro  and then someday law school became possible with the help of scholarships .  Thank you for your generous support and donations.  Without these programs and scholarships in Allegany County many students would not have the opportunities that we now have.  Thank you so much for making this possible.  I hope to someday give back to the communities that helped me so much with the further schooling I am about to  receive.”

“Thank you so much for awarding me the Steven V. Ambroselli Scholarship!  This scholarship will help me to achieve my dream of becoming an orthopedic surgeon by attending St. Bonaventure University for pre-med and then going on to Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine through the dual admit program at SBU.

I plan to  use the money for my books and room and board at St. Bonaventure University.  I do hope to be able to help others as you have helped me when I become successful in the medical field.  I am truly grateful for the scholarship donors and the selection committee for spending their time and money to help others achieve their life ambitions.”

“Thank you so much for my award.  This will help so much for my last two years of college.  Receiving the Marion Green Scholarship was such an honor.  I found out that Marion was my Grandma Coat’s 3rd and 4th grade teacher, so getting this award was very special to both myself and my grandmother.  Thank you again for this scholarship.”

“I am pleased to say that SUNY New Platz and college life in general have treated me well.  This first semester has been great; I’ve learned a lot already and have made many friends.  I’d like to thank the Allegany County Area Foundation again for the Belva A. Waite Scholarship, as it has helped my finances considerably.

“Hi!  I’ve had an amazing experience this fall semester.  I achieved a 4.0 GPA at Hartwick College while taking some very challenging classes in my double major of  Chemistry and Mathematics.   I also was elected president of the chemistry club at my school, worked on a chemistry research project with one of my professors, and tutored organic chemistry to sophomore students.  This past summer, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with a research lab at the University of Michigan as part of a very competitive program.  As always, I could not have accomplished any of this without your support. Thank you for everything!”
Megan

” Mrs. Oliver, Thank you for everything that you have done for all of the scholarship winners including myself.  The Allegany County Area Foundation has made the cost of college much more manageable for so many students.  I am grateful for all of the help that you and many others have provided me.  Thank you again for everything.”

“This letter is in reference to the Daniel McCarthy Scholarship that I was awarded by the Allegany County Area Foundation.  I want to take this opportunity again and thank all who are involved with this wonderful project.  I am pleased to say that my first semester at Alfred State College was successful, and I am looking forward to what next semester has to offer.
Jacob

“Again, I would like to thank the Scholarship Committee for helping me with this opportunity.  To give you some updates.  I am still a NCAA athlete on the crew team and on the rocket team.  We are putting the finishing touches on the rocket we are going to take to the national competition.  This coming semester I have decided to try another company instead of going back to Boeing.  I will be building rockets for Space X out in Los Angeles!  I am very excited, as Space X is the dream company for all aero/astro space engineers!  I recently met Elon Musk, the founder of PayPal, Solar City, Tesla Motors and Space X while he was a guest speaker here at MIT!  I also will be working in a lab this coming semester with Buzz Aldrin!

So things here are very exciting!  I have included the following link as I was just chosen as a Burchard Scholar!?http://mitathletics.com/genrel/2014-15/Burchard_Scholars
Thanks again!
Ryan

I have just finished my first semester at Roanoke College.  The semester has gone very well, and I have enjoyed meeting many new people at my home away from home.
I am very grateful for the support of the Allegany County Area Foundation.  The generous support is overwhelming, and I would appreciate their continued support this next semester.
