Foster Elected to Foundation Board

Jane FosterBELMONT, N.Y., May 14, 2012—The Allegany County Area Foundation has elected Jane Foster of Wellsville to serve on its board of directors. Foster will serve a four-year term, beginning immediately.

“I am excited about joining this vital organization that has helped so many students in Allegany County,” Foster said.

A native of Shongo, N.Y., Foster attended American International College in Springfield, Mass., as an English major after graduating from Wellsville High School in 1979. She spent 20 years as director of community services at Allegany Arc, then became a counselor and the adoption coordinator at Adelphoi Village in Harrison Valley, Pennsylvania.

Since January she has been home-to-school coordinator at Belfast Central School, where she works on bullying prevention.

“The Foundation will benefit greatly from Jane’s enthusiasm to serve the people of Allegany County,” said Doug Roorbach, executive director of the Foundation, “She will be an asset to help us connect to a great many organizations in the county.”

Foster said recently that she would like to use her post on the board “to encourage individuals and families to leave a legacy by creating scholarships at the Foundation” and to help the Foundation’s work in the area of cultural opportunities for the residents of the county.
