Allegany County Area Foundation Names 35 New Scholarship Winners

Belmont, NY – May 18, 2007 – Allegany County Area Foundation, a not-for-profit organization which seeks to encourage educational, social, cultural and civic projects benefiting the residents of Allegany County, New York, is pleased to announce 35 new scholarship winners for the 2007/08 academic year. 260 people attended a special banquet held on May 10th at Houghton College to honor not only the scholarship winners, but also the educators of Allegany County.

The 35 new scholarship winners will receive a total of $51, 500, joining others receiving renewable scholarships totally over $180,000 for the 2007/08 academic year. These scholarships are available to Allegany County residents and are awarded yearly, following an April 1 deadline for submission of an application. Applications are available from school guidance counselors or by writing directly to the Foundation.
